Blockbuster Anxiety?!!

Does anyone know of a website where I can find out which movies are inappropriate for me (a sensitive viewer) and separately which movies are inappropriate for small children?  Some videos are very misleading and the ratings don't tell you much in regards to how raunchy or dark the humor of a comedy is, and watching people puke their brains out is not my idea of funny.  Or whether an animated children's movie that appears to be cute actually contains violence or witchcraft!  My local blockbuster clerks are used to my many questions but they haven't seen every movie and sometimes I'm not sure whether a 19 year old has the perspective I am looking for.  If there is a website (perhaps a Christian website?) that makes things simple and easy I would love to know about it and add it to my "Bookmarks".  Does anyone else have movie anxiety or is it just me being weird?

Library

Hey girls! My friend Summer and I are going to the library tomorrow if anyone feels like gettin' out. We're going to the one on Champlain and Perrin to the story time at 10:45. Hope to see some of you there. Also, just FYI, we're planning on being there most weeks, so if you can't make it tomorrow, maybe another time. And, if you can come tomorrow, they're having the kids dress up because of Halloween. We're not big Halloween fans, but I was excited for a chance to let the kids go out in their princess dresses that they wear 24/7 and are usually only allowed to wear at home. : ) Have a great day!

Mervyns is going out of business!

I heard on the news this morning that Mervyns is going out of business and has marked and additional 75% off everything storewide!  Unfortunately I can't go until Noah's naptime, so hopefully there will still be stuff left by then.  I have no idea how crazy the stores are or how depleted their inventory might be.  Has anyone been there recently?  Does anyone know more?

Cake and New Recipes

Ok...so here's the scoop!

Need a cake in the next day or so? If so, go to my blog and see if you can use it. If not, it's going in the trash. I thought it would make a cute birthday cake. And I know it will taste good, I just don't want it. No birthdays around here for a while...

I also added two new recipes that I just tried yesterday. They are Chicken Curry Casserole and Chocolate Chip Pumpkin cookies. (Nothing like getting some veggies in your kids while they enjoy the taste.) My family enjoyed both recipes, especially the second of the two. =)

Can't wait to see you all next Tuesday. It already seems like an eternity since last week.

Family Movie Night (TONIGHT)

I know it's a little late notice, but in Clovis at the Sierra Vista Mall Park (the new section) under the stars will be viewing "Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown". What a great way to kick off the Halloween season. You can't beat this fabulous weather. There is lots of room to let the kids run around and its totally Free.... Love it... The movie is a little less then 30 minutes long, perfect for the little guys. From 7-7:30pm. I will be there so if you what to meet up email me. Good Morning Ladies....

Oh, you're not up yet??? MY BAD. I'm showered, dressed (fully, we're talkin' hair and make up even), devotional...done. My daughter woke up at 5:45am to tell me that she loved me and desperately wanted me to hold her. Ok, not really. She has a cold and is a bit restless when she's sick. But a mommy can dream. I've got to get my kiddos up now and take Noah to school. I kind of like getting up early. I feel refreshed, renewed...but will I make a habit of it? Probably not for a couple more years. Or, you know...ever.

Pediatrician Sereach

Hey Ladies, one of the moms at my table has just moved here, and is having trouble finding a pediatrician. I have Kaiser and love Dr. Inouye but you have to have Kaiser to to see him(I'm sure you know that). So is there anyone that can recommend a fabulous miracle worker aka Doctor? Kids consignment store

There is a good kid consignment store near Ashlan and Blackstone in the Vons shopping center, Pip Squeaks. I found Allie a Halloween costume for $7.50 and they have lots of clothes for little ones.

Please Pray

Please pray for Shawna Kilbert, the woman who had the fundraiser last night. The cancer has taken over and now she is experimenting with different types of treatments. She is 33 years old with 2 little boys and a husband. There were TONS of people out last night for her.....I pray that all of those people are also praying for her! I do not know her personally, but I just can't stand the thought of not seeing my kids grow up. Thanks!!

I was at Costco yesterday and they have $100 in Starbucks gift cards for $79.99. That is for 5 $20 cards. I know it is a lot of money but Christmas is coming soon.....

Fundraiser

If you are planning on going out to dinner tomorrow night (Thursday 9th), Baja Fresh Riverpark is doing a fundraiser for a colleage of my husbands wife who has cancer. It was in remission, but I guess it is back. Just wanted to pass it along.

Fall Community Service Project

This is just a reminder about our Fall Community Service Project. 

Highway City Thrift Store “Work Program” allows the needy in our community to help out for a few hours and in return they get 2 bags of food and can work a few more hours for clothing.  They contacted New Covenant because they are in great need of food donations.   I called them and told them that we would be doing a food and clothing drive and they were ecstatic, especially since our goods will be received before Thanksgiving, their busiest time of the year!

 

We are collecting food, clothing and household items for the next 4 meetings—October through November.  Our last possible day for collections is November 18th!

 

Things to donate:

FOOD:

Canned/Jarred foods- meats, fruits, vegetables, chili, spaghetti sauce, tomato paste & sauce, raviolis, peanut butter, mayonnaise, mustard, catsup, jelly, syrup, juice, pickles, soups, chicken broth, cranberry sauce and frosting.

Dried foods- pasta, rice, beans, flour, corn meal, sugar, bisquick, cereal, coffee, jell-o/pudding, crackers, koolaid, tuna and hamburger helper, macaroni & cheese, rice-a-roni, instant potatoes, top ramen, stuffing, cake mix, raisins, snacks, dried fruits

Miscellaneous- cooking oils, shortening, laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, cleaning items, and diapers

Hygiene Items- toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, razors, and shampoo

Medicine- cough syrup and aspirin

OTHER NEEDED ITEMS:

Men, Women, and Children's clothing, Shoes, appliances, linens, bedding, framed pictures, decorative items, baby items, books, records, sewing notions, sports equipment.
