Mervyns is going out of business!
I heard on the news this morning that Mervyns is going out of business and has marked and additional 75% off everything storewide! Unfortunately I can't go until Noah's naptime, so hopefully there will still be stuff left by then. I have no idea how crazy the stores are or how depleted their inventory might be. Has anyone been there recently? Does anyone know more?

I saw it in the newspaper and news, but that is it. I am sure it will be crazy busy, but they have lots of stuff.
Don't bother. There were only certain racks that were 75% off, and they weren't the good brands or anything great. Everything else was on sale but you could find it cheaper else where.
I saw in the paper that they actually declared bankruptcy back in June or July. I think this is all just coming out in the press to increase early holiday sales.
I did get some bath towels for $3.99 marked down from $11.99 and slippers for 40% off, so I am happy! My hubby has been asking for new bath towels for awhile now. You need to have another bridal shower at year 12, eveything starts to wear out!
I hear ya Lora. We just splurged on a new set of cookware since our wedding stuff was not cutting it anymore. (It's the Executive 7-piece set from TPC!) So excited and it's only been 4 1/2 years. I can't imagine 12 years????
Preach it Lora! By the time 12 years comes around we have a passel of kids and can't afford new stuff because we all know kids cost more than that wedding;).
Cindy, I think that is the set I got too!
So..I went to the mall yesterday. They do have some things dramatically reduced, but most stuff is still 30-40% off. Which is pretty typical for Mervyn's.
